Taking Classes in Stockholm
We believe you should never stop learning. This belief is part of why we are so passionate about teaching language and culture. So if you’re living in Stockholm, what can you do to pursue some kind of education or hobby beyond learning Swedish? You have lots of options! Let’s take a look at some activities sound like fun, and maybe find the right classes for you.
Learn by Eating
One of the best ways to learn about a culture is by eating its food, so cooking it is a step better. You may have already noticed that in Sweden there is great emphasis on quality and seasonality when cooking. Swedish Taste in Stockholm offers classes covering different topics, and you can sign up with friends!
Looking for an activity with more movement? Why not try dance? Folkuniversitetet offers classes in many styles for everyone from beginners to advanced students. If you’re looking to do a little time traveling, check out the swing dance classes at the Chicago Swing Dance Studio. On Wednesdays, they have drop in classes for beginners, so you don’t have to commit to a multi-week course just to try it out.
If you’ve ever wondered how to achieve those effortless-looking sprays of perfectly placed blooms you see in the many local flower shops, a floristry workshop might be right for you. At the Flowers Bar in Stockholm, you can book a workshop just for yourself, or for a group of friends. At Florist Utbildarna, you can even be a “Florist for a Day,” which includes 4 projects to take home, as well as lunch.
Be an Artist
The site MeetUp is well known for hosting themed events, allowing you to find events and new friends based on your interests. This includes a group for photography, which hosts an event each month focused on different aspects of the art.
At the Stockholm International Aikido Club, classes in the art of self defense are held in either Swedish or English. They let you try out two classes for free, so you can decide if it’s really something you like before you commit.
