Welcome to 2020!
Welcome to 2020! Many people consider the start of the New Year to be an opportunity for new healthy habits and ambitious goals. January 1st is an exciting day- it’s a clean slate, and we get to take a moment to think about what we would like to achieve for ourselves in the coming year.
If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re new here in Sweden, or you’re working with people who moved here from other countries. Maybe you or someone you know is thinking about how to make the most of 2020 in Sweden. We can help you there!
Getting Used to Sweden
Many people find it very easy to get around in the country without speaking Swedish. This is thanks to an English literacy rate around 90%. For many large companies here, it’s the official working language. If you’re an employer, it might seem like employees are managing just fine, without any conflicts at work.
However, their performance and confidence outside of the workplace is critical as well. This is especially true if you’re aiming for high retention. Employees that are happy where they work and live are more likely to perform well at work and stay with you. And did you know that making decisions in a second language helps people make more analytic choices?
Wherever you moved here from, chances are it’s going to take you a little while to get used to Swedish people and the way things are done in the country. Because of this, it’s really helpful to learn about the language and culture if you want to get the most out of living and working here.
In other words, bit of know-how will help you be more comfortable and capable in your new home.
Getting really good at living in Sweden isn’t just about language, though, the culture is important too!
